The kitchen is the hub of most homes. It’s where we eat, work, play, and connect with each other. When it comes to cooking, the kitchen pantry and cabinets may not be suited for efficiency, which makes meal preparation frustrating rather than fun. So before you start prepping your next meal, consider the following ideas to make your kitchen pantry more user friendly.
Keep Frequent Flyers Nearby. Do you use olive oil more often than vinegar? Or maybe you use your small frying pan more often than the wok. Whatever the item, place the things you use more often within easy reach. Leave the higher shelves and spots at the back of the closet for things you don’t use as much. This way, you can quickly grab what you need (and use most often) without having to rummage through the pantry to find it.
Picking Order. Organize similar items together in your pantry and cabinets. Beans with beans, broth with broth, pasta with pasta. You’ll know where everything is, quickly and easily. It also makes the pantry look tidier, since packaging for similar items is, well, similar.
Sliding Home. Instead of moving all the items in the front out of the way to get to the things in the back, consider installing sliding shelves. It eliminates the need to go cave-diving into your pantry for the item you want in the very back, and can help keep everything in the cabinet orderly, too.
